Originally the heritage one floor York hotel was designed into an eight floors of commercial office space, basement tavern and ground floor retail.
Heritage experienced brick layers were difficult to obtain, and costs were prohibitive.
The design solution was to provide the new high-rise façade to match existing features by use of fibre glass moulds on the existing façade and to rearrange into a well-proportioned new heritage façade.
This project was a Heritage Council award winner.
