Eastgate, Bondi Junction
The innovative design of Eastgate established it as the first air space development and a major feature on the Sydney skyline at the time. It set a benchmark for luxury, high rise developments since its completion.
This development contains 202 apartments in two towers, on top of a four storey shopping centre, with 9 levels of car parking and expansive 3600 vista from Sydney Harbour to Botany Bay and beyond.
Initially designed as a one tower concept of 36 levels above street, the project was reconfigured to two, 18 storey towers for faster construction and structural efficiency.
The unique tree-like structural system was developed to span over the large column spacing of the shopping centre below saving considerable transfer structure, slab depths and costs.
A large podium level was designed to provide extensive landscaping, tennis courts, swimming pool and a 1 kilometre long running track.
