Located in Chinatown, ‘Dixon 8’ is a 22 storey residential, hotel & commercial / retail project. D5D undertook design development and construction documentation for Grocon Constructors who completed construction in 2003 for the developer, Kimberley Securities Limited.
The project features a ‘traditional’ face brick podium, required to complement the existing streetscape and neighbouring buildings. A precast concrete panel tower accommodates a mix of 118 studio, one bedroom apartments and hotel rooms. The project also includes two levels of commercial/retail space and three levels of basement car parking.
D5D scope of work was to provide full architectural services for a fast track D&C construction procurement process. This included successful negotiations with Council which had previously undergone a prolonged development approval process.
