BONDI WATERS AGED CARE Bondi, NSW
Bondi Waters is an extra services aged care facility constructed in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and within walking distance to one of Australia’s well known tourist destinations, Bondi Beach.
D5D Project Management Principle worked externally with the developer and facility operator, project managing the re-design of the facility to increase bed numbers through to obtaining a construction certificate, ready to commence construction towards the end of 2009.
Bondi Waters, located on an 1115sqm site, is to be a single building housing six levels of above ground activity and lounge areas and accommodation for 55 beds, with two underground levels for utilities and car-parking. Due to the nature of the sub soil, extensive shoring and piling works was required for the excavation and base building services. The building has been developed under the new section J requirements and utilizes a combination of passive and mechanical systems.
Bondi Waters will provide for four alternate streams of aged care accommodation:
- Nursing Home or High Care for frail or physically defendant residents
- Hostel or Low care for residents requiring some assistance with daily activities
- Secure Dementia Care for residents with dementia or other Cognitive impairments
- Respite Care providing short term accommodation and care at times of need
