D5D has been engaged to design an extension to the existing building initially designed by Harry Seidler plus an entire new fit out of the interior corresponding to the needs and requirements of the rugby club.

The 2 – storey design provides a ground floor function centre called “Tempo” and an upstairs fine dining restaurant called the “Strand” which will provide bar and dining facilities for all members. The design also provides an exclusive ‘Benefactors’ Club lounge on the second level, as well as office areas which will accommodate the needs of the administration side of the club.

The Home is built around two substantial internal courtyards, with the main entry off Dangar Street. It offers a number of impressive facilities including the largest Hydrotherapy pools in the southern hemisphere with a circular spa for massage therapy and relaxation, Burger Day Centre, community plaza and ample underground parking. The Randwick campus caters for 276 residents within four alternate streams of aged care accommodation – High Care, Low Care, Secure Dementia Care and Respite Care.

D5D was brought in by the Project Manager, McLachlan Lister for design review, design development and the construction documentation phases of the project. By placing D5D architectural staff in both the Design Architect’s office as well as on site, we were able to substantially reduce the construction programme and expedite the Building Contractor’s queries.

D5D initially redesigned the entire front bar and sports bar areas opening up previously small and segmented areas into a large multi functional public bar with a clean, stylish modern décor with a highly functional centre bar and display.

The success of the front bar refurbishment lead D5D to design the new and extended rear dining area, that being an external terraced facility, which includes a new refurbished kitchen and an exciting dining room to match the new design style.

D5D’s design and documentation of the Caxton Hotel has boosted the Caxton’s popularity, ensuring it remains at the top of the hospitality game.

The design is a strikingly modern building which will become a prominent gateway building to Hurstville’s CBD. The building has been designed to achieve a 6 – star environmental green rating.

D5D has been engaged for total delivery from inception to full interior design, as well as total project management under a design and construct process.

Through careful design and specialist authority negotiations, a 32% increase in the allowable building space was achieved for the owners of the building.

D5D’s brief was to design a large new dining and drinking facility to compliment the existing with a separate dedicated entrance off Church Street. The new facility called Fitzy’s on Church boasts fine dining and a large central bar facility that serves both an air-conditioned indoor facility with tall raked ceilings and a large external area including a Dedicated Outdoor Smoking Area (DOSA).

Undercover basement parking, a new functional display kitchen and new back of house facilities ensured an outstanding result for the Pub.

The project occupying a whole block consists of three individual buildings connected by a central landscaped podium. Two basement levels providing some 300 car parking spaces, store rooms for each apartment and bicycle storage

Each building was designed to reflect its own individuality while at the same time compose a uniform and coherent mass building form.

D5D was engaged for design development and construction documentation which was delivered in a compressed timeframe to allow construction to commence. Completion is expected in June 2009.

D5D was initially engaged by Grocon Constructions, and subsequently by Walker Group to undertake design development and construction documentation of the building structure, services and external cladding. D5D also undertook coordination and documentation for the major tenancy fit outs.

The shopping centre comprises more than 163,483m² of gross floor area and over 2500 car parking spaces in a twelve-storey building. Major tenants include Reading Cinemas, Coles Supermarkets and IKEA, whose store is their largest in the Southern Hemisphere. The retail centre also accommodates 100 specialty shops, food court and gymnasium, as well as 28,000m² of commercial office space.
